February Calendar Pictures …

pizap.com14513495978491

My February pictures are.. the wall calendar on the left is of a beautiful amaryllis that a friend gave me.

The desk calendar picture on the right was taken in CT last February on my birthday… went to Rowayton, CT to meet a friend for coffee.  Before my daughter and I got there my friend had hung a ‘happy birthday’ banner over the table and had gifts and all kinds of pastries for us.  It was a spur-of-the moment get together and it was  a lot of fun.

NYC Matinee Day …

My daughter Deb, our friend Dawn and I went to NYC last Saturday to see…tah dah… the funniest, most hysterical musical comedy I think I’ve ever seen… and despite the title… it was not rotten :)  Come along and join us on our matinee day in the city.

After getting coffee we headed to Times Square…

You can always count on seeing a lot of characters roaming Times Sq, for example take a look at the characters in the last picture, crazy looking bunch :)

You might even see a proposal taking place, although I wonder if the one we saw was a real one or staged since there was a camera crew there !  At any rate it picture worthy.

Next up was lunch.. Junior’s Restaurant & Bar was our choice and it was a good one… we all chose sandwiches which were huge and delicious, the side dishes of pickles and also beets were great…but the icing on the cake, or in this case the blueberries on the cheesecake was oh so good… one piece shared 3 ways was perfect.pizap.com14531643690312

and now the main event…  I present …’Something Rotten’..

Inside before the magic, and the laughter began…

IMG_2035And of course way too soon the laughter, the music, and the magic ended and it was out into the cold evening with memories of a fantastic, not rotten, matinee day in the city :)

Coffee, Records, Yarn and Elvis …

As I mentioned a few posts ago every Saturday my daughter Deb and I, often accompanied by her best friend Dawn, go out for coffee and whatever else occurs.    This past Saturday was chock full.

First up is coffee…  almost always the first stop.  We were in the charming town of Summit, New Jersey and stopped in at Boxwood Coffee which I have to say was a great choice.

Second up was Record Store Saturday.  We hadn’t had plans to seek out a record store but lo and behold there was one right around the corner so of course we checked it out…

Third up was the main reason for the outing… The New Jersey Wool Walk.  You  may be wondering what a wool walk is, here’s the description from the website…  ”The New Jersey Wool Walk is an event to give passionate knitters, crocheters and fiber artists the opportunity to visit, experience and enjoy the wide array of yarn shops throughout Central, South and North Jersey.  Our diverse stores have a variety of yarns, notions, classes and styles.  The Wool Walk is a four day festive happening that is not a sale, but an adventure for all lovers of yarn and what it can become!”

The girls had visited several yarn shops the day before and did a few more when I joined them on Saturday.  Here are a few pictures from Summit.  Look at those happy faces with their bags of stash.

As if that wasn’t a full enough day there’s still one more event to go,

Fourth up is for me, the main event…. ELVIS is in the building :)

My life long friend and I are also life long fans of Elvis and so when the opportunity arose to see this Elvis impersonator we jumped at the chance.  I wish I could remember his name because he was fabulous… looked, sang, sounded just like The King himself.  It was quite the climax to a full day.

There’s a lot of pressure on next Saturday if it wants to be as exciting and fun as the past two were.

Coffee And Shopping Day …

Every Saturday my daughter Deb and I go out for coffee and sometimes shopping as well.  Her best friend Dawn often joins us and we always have a good time… lots of laughing is involved.

This past Saturday we went to the pretty and charming small town of Lafayette, New Jersey which is set in the rolling hills of Sussex County.   There are a lot of antique stores and although antiques are not quite my thing it’s fun to poke around in the shops and discover that some of the antiques are things that my parents actually had when I was a child.

Our first stop was a Cloveberry, a charming coffee/food/bakery cafe.  We will definitely be going back.  The coffee was superb and the mixed berry scone I had was not only massive but de-lic-ious.

It was in the last shop, Sweet P.E.A.’s that we spent the most time… and yes, it was sweet.  Somehow I got into one of the pictures !

From the window you can see and hear water rushing past…

When we went outside we saw this building…

It was a lovely day and I’m sure we’ll go back.

These aren’t signs of spring but signs that made me smile..
