Yarned By You: Digital Pattern Gallery

We’ve been hoping for a long time that we’d be able to release patterns digitally and I’m so glad that you’re just as pleased about it! It made me want to look at all the projects that people had made from what we’ve released because I honestly love every one of the 8 patterns we’ve released so far.

Riverwater knit up the most adorable Lamb Shoes in Yearling #1 Snowball! The sleepy eyelids just get me every time! Pow, right in the ovaries!

Also in Yearling is MrMerrit’s title project Yearling. #1 Snowball is clearly perfect for lamb-white!  Bwah ha ha! Look at that baby surprise face! She has no idea how cute she is!

I’m pretty sure that I’ve shown off KnitlessInSeattle’s Plotted & Pieced in Findley Dappled #107 Zinnia before, but I couldn’t help sharing it again! (Especially because I’ll be going out to Seattle and seeing her in just a week!)

KnitlessInSeattle's Plotted and Pieced

handmadebykoren has knit several shop samples for Gather Here. I got to see her All the Stops dress in person while we were there for the trunk show and it does look divine! Made with Findley Dappled in #105 Clear Blue Sky

cyndim’s knit up a Myrtle using Sabine in #2 Butterscotch. Doesn’t it look comfy?

cyndim's Myrtle

I can’t help but love a black sweater and nosheepyet’s Wren doesn’t fail to deliver! She knit it using Sabine in Icicle and modified  it to have 3/4 sleeves. (I might be a little partial to this one since I modeled the original. And then knit myself one because I liked it so much!)

Next week I’ll show you some of the patterns you’ve been clamoring for us to release as digital downloads!

(Click on the picture to be taken to the project notes. The text link will take you to the shop if you should want to purchase the pattern. Don’t forget the 33% coupon code mentioned in Monday’s post!)

Let’s see what we have in the YBY vaults this week. A reminder that you can click through the photo to see the project page which also links to the pattern page on Ravelry.

SunnySideOut made this gorgeous 1092 – A Ladies Shawl in Herriot. There’s a crochet bind off and she converted her knitting needle in a most ingenious way!

This Elara top (designed by Ruth Garcia-Alcantud for us) was knit by trishnewton using Moonshine in color Junebug. Based on her ravelry page, I would guess that she knit it as a shop sample for Knit -n-Crochet in Idaho. She wiped it out in just 15 days!

I love fingerless mittens! And akmoosepoops’s Shirl’s Mittletts #131 in Sabine are no exception! I like how the cabling pulls in the mitts at the wrist. I have very small wrists and that’s always a problem I have with fingerless mitts!

jennschaff posted on our ravelry group about her Overpass, knit in Findley using Dove and Mermaid. We all raved about it, and I’m sure you can see why!

These non-felted Slippers by knitterdre are super-comfy looking! I bet that Yearling would make a great slipper!

And I can’t help but to be a little bit smitten with JenfromJersey’s Eva! Driftwood is one of my favorite Findley Dappled colors (shhh… don’t tell the other colors!) and ruffles just kill me!JenfromJersey's Eva

What are you making?

Who wants to see some beautiful knits today? You do! Well, you’re in luck because I’ve got another edition of Yarned by You! A reminder that (if you’re on Ravelry) you can click through the images to get to the project page and learn more, including where to get the pattern.

This Wild Vanilla vest never looked so good in Sabine (09 Wisteria). Mollysbottomknits did a fantastic job! I love the cabled pulling everything together at the top!

This Gable (designed by Caroline Fryar) was knit in Findley Dappled (Woodland) by JulieRoseSews. I love how well this pattern works with a variegated yarn! And it’s a free pattern! So if you want to make your own version, you can find it (and the rest of the free Findley patterns) on the Findley Free Pattern page.

Okay, this one feels a little bit like cheating because it was designed by Ann, which works for KFI (our distributor). So maybe it doesn’t quite feel like YOU made it. But Ann actually reads the blog alongside everyone else (Hi Ann!), so I think it counts anyway. And besides, she made it a free pattern, so that’s gotta count for something, right? It’s the Chadwick Argyle Cowl! She knit it using Black Magic (#10), Dawn (#3), and Syrah (#4).

  KFI's chadwick argyle cowl

This Cora (again designed by Caroline Fryar) has been lingering my favorites for awhile now, so I’m glad that I get to share it with the rest of you! She knit it just as the pattern states, using Herriot 04 Walnut as the main color.

kamikazeknit's Cora

tonymsrad made this Snowball Beanie to go with the Annie Boot Cuff which she also made. She used Yearling in 01 Snowball.

I’m slightly enamored of the Whisper Wrap. It’s definitely in my to-knit list. In fact, I’ve shown off this wrap in Findley before! I just love it! This one is made by Regina-K using Rappahanock. The drape! It just gets me every time!

Free Pattern! Chapman Shawl

I’m so pleased to bring you this lovely new pattern by Corrina Ferguson designed for Findley Dappled and in colorway #110 Wisteria.

Corrina knits and designs in Florida where there are only about three sweater days per year. But she keeps on knitting anyway and dreams of someday retiring somewhere where it snows. Corrina blogs at http://picnicknits.com/

ChapmanShawl1

Corrina designed a number of patterns which are available in our Findley Dappled 2013 booklet which can be purchased at a LYS near you. But the Chapman Shawl is available to you for the low, low price of FREE!

DSC_0070

This shawl is knit sideways and is designed to use up a single ball of Findley, which makes this shawl affordable as well as long enough to wrap around yourself in the air-conditioned office or on a cool summer evening.

Art Shot

This shawl matches the Chapman Cardigan pattern, in case you just can’t get enough of this dainty lace motif.

You can download the Chapman Shawl right here, or on the Free Pattern Page for Findley.

A NOTE! There was a small error in the key for a previous version, but this updated version 05.20.13 is correct. Thank you!

Yarned by You: Findley Gallery

This week I couldn’t help but focus on Findley projects! I was naturally gravitating towards them, so let’s see what tickled my fancy and if it tickles yours, shall we?

This Evenstar Shawl was knit by the cleverly named knijaknit in Findley Dappled’s 106 Driftwoord colorway. I’m so impressed by these lace circular shawls, aren’t you?

KninjaKnit's Evenstar Shawl

This Kieselguhr was knit in Findley 07 Atmosphere. DameLac says that she knit it using one ball of Findley! She’s hoping that it will block out to be a little bit longer, since the curling hem comes up a little higher than she’d like. When I see garments like this knit from one ball of yarn, I’m reminded again by how impressive Findley’s yardage is!

I’ve always been tempted to make an Advent Calendar Scarf (this pattern is from 2012),  but I’ve never taken the challenge, since I’m not a fast knitter and December tends to be a crazy-busy time for me! I’m glad I get to see omiegosh’s knitted in Findley’s Renaissance.

judisohn knit this Echo Flower Shawl in Findley Dappled’s Clear Blue Sky. The longer I look at this, the more the individual colors pop out at me. Such a lovely pattern!

What a great way to learn a new stitch pattern! Idyllblue knit this little lace bracelet using Barbara Walter’s English Mesh Lace pattern and Findley in 02 Graphite.

This Blooming Stitch Shawl makes my heart flutter! kfritz knit this in Fresco! Am I the only one who salivates just looking at this?

Introducing: Findley Dappled 2013

Early this morning we all changed our clocks forward an hour (assuming you’re in a country that does that). I don’t know about you, but the time change always makes me feel a little groggy. So I thought it would be a fitting treat for folks to wake up to some beautiful knitting patterns to help take the sting off the time change.

The good thing about the time change is that we’re springing forward and I’m certainly looking forward to spring. I think that these beautiful patterns designed by Corrina Ferguson for the laceweight Findley Dappled line will put you in the spring mood too.

There is a Chapman Shawl that is a part of the collection that is currently being test knit by the talented, fast, and lovely Deb Terrio. Once it’s done and photographed, we’ll be releasing it as a free pattern on the website. We’ll make an announcement when that happens! Here’s a sneak peek of the WIP (Work in Progress), to hold you over. It’s knit from side to side and is not yet half way finished.Chapman Shawl WIP

Susie is stuck under a mountain of snow and it’s raining cold, hard, windy rain here with the threat of snow tomorrow. I’m alternately wanting to snuggle up under the most comfortable of warm clothes, or throw out anything having to do with winter and embrace spring.

Let’s see what I can find that you’ve made on Ravelry to match my mood.

Winter Warmth. Blendab1 knit this Cowboy Cowl out of her Spring 2011 share for her gorgeous daughter.

Blendab1's Cowboy Cowl

Spring for Spring. rebeca4a knit All the Stops (designed by Caroline Fryar for the Spring 2012 collection) in Findley Dappled’s Woodland to wear on her cruise. She modified it for a more conservative neckline and skipped the belt.

rebeca4a's All the Stops

Cozy Comfort. chelseabug knit a Hattie dress (also designed by Caroline Fryar for the Fall 2012 collection) in Herriot. I would love to be wrapped in a dress like this with some wool tights.

chelseabug's Hattie

Warm-Weather Wear. SupaSteph knit a supa-awesome Leaves of Spring shawl out of Findley in Dove. Just right as a spring layering piece, though if I started right now I don’t know that I’d be done before fall!

SupaSteph Pi

Head Heater. jbritton79 knit this Thorpe out of Marlowe in Madrigal. A lovely pop of purple color to know that spring will someday be here.

jbritton's thorpe

Cool Cap. This is the first Moonshine project in the wild! Knipper knit this Ola hat (which received a lot of attention on Rav for its racy pattern page photo!) out of the brand new yarn, Moonshine in Charcoal and Swimming Pool.

Kipper's Ola

Here’s something a little bit in between. Tamrisk knit up Driftwood, which has been in my favorites for awhile since it features a relatively unknown shoulder/sleeve construction called Contiguous. It’s gaining in popularity and just became an attribute tag on Ravelry. (In fact, the All the Stops dress pictures above uses it!) It’s a top down method in which you knit the sleeve cap and body at the same time. Anyway, Tamrisk did her Driftwood in one color of Sabine – Sirius. (Did I mention that it’s free?) The pink buttons are a fun addition!

What do you like to knit on these stormy days?

Yarned by You: Findley Shawl Gallery

Susie told me that Findley Dappled is KFI’s most popular spring yarn line! That is hugely flattering. I can see why, though! Findley is a laceweight yarn with lovely sheen and drape and holds up very well to wear. Everyone seems to love working with it! And do you know what people love making with Findley? Shawls! There are tons of shawls on Ravelry using Findley! So I thought I’d share a few of them with you for today’s post.

alenegrini used Dove to knit Holden Shawlette. She purchased the yarn at one of my LYS!

LynsYarn knit this Zetor. I’m thinking for projects like this blocking wires are a necessity!

knitgirl389 knit DeepintheMeadow in Fresco and Crocodile. If you look closely, you’ll see that it’s beaded!

Cheetah2011 knit this Tuch / shawl *Filigrano* in Atmosphere. This picture shows off the color amazingly!

I’ve featured Handmadebykoren’s before. I couldn’t resist showing this Doubloon in Malachite.

cjspensley knit this super-popular Traveling Woman in Clear Blue Sky. I can’t decide what her blocking board is!

What do you knit with Findley? What would you like to see in next week’s Yarned by You?

Yarned by You: Designed by You

Since I’ve been admiring all the new designs for the Spring 2013 yarn lines and I can’t show you any of those, I thought that I’d show you some patterns designed for JMF yarn not commissioned by JMF. These are all patterns that you can download right away and get knitting!

Samantha Capelet was designed by Beth Ann Beck in Yearling colorway Kiwi. It looks like the perfect thing to throw on top of your bathing suit for a little more coverage while you dry.

Learning Curve is a shawl designed by Adrienne Ku for a lace knitting class in Findley in Malachite. If you’re feeling like expanding your lace skills, check out this shawl! (Also, Happy Birthday, Adrienne!)

Narramissic Dress was designed by Jennilee Sirios in Sabine 06 Sea Glass. This would be perfect for a little girl that loves to twirl!

Infinity Scarf by Nancy Hopf  is a free pattern that was designed in Findley Dappled 105 Clear Blue Sky. I think the beauty of this yarn would make up for the miles of stockinette. It would be perfect for knitting on the plane, which I just did with Findley, although not with this pattern!

Crossing Faults by Beatrix Haggard-Lofton is another Yearling caplet, which has a completely different look the other one. This one is knit in Blue Blue Sky.

Rebeca’s Raglan Sweater was designed by Melina Martin Gingras in Sabine Sirius and Wisteria. I love how it surprises you with just a bit of lace at the hips!

Finally, Marissa’s Shawl was designed in Findley Fresco by Helen Rose. On the Ravelry page she includes a handy list of skills needed to work the lace, so if you’re feeling like you might not have the chops to knit it, check it out and you might be surprised!

Who else is designing something with JMF yarns?

You can find the JMF yarns in a LYS near you by clicking here then clicking “find a store,” inputting your zip code and selecting Juniper Moon Farm as the yarn brand.
