Tuesday Photo Challenge – Stack…

I was going in a totally different direction with ‘stacked’ until I folded dishtowels to bring to the kitchen and decided to do..tah dah, kitchen stacks 🙂 I think the yellow and white tea-for-ones are clever in that the yellow one has a flat top for the rounded top one to sit on.

Cursed car?

IMG_1014 IMG_1013 IMG_1012 IMG_1011 IMG_1009

My poor car is not even a year old and it’s already had it’s windshield replaced and now it needs a paint job. I was baffled when scratches started appearing a few months ago and could not figure out what was going on. I finally came to the conclusion that it could only be vandalism. We filed a report with the local police and then a claim with the insurance company and she’ll have to spend a week at the body shop in early July. The only parts not scratched are the roof and hood so she must be taken all apart for a costly proper paint job.

Currier and Ives

It’s already gone but Sunday felt like we lived in a snow globe with big gorgeous fat snowflakes gently floating and swirling around leaving a very Currier and Ives type scene the next morning.

Spring?

My little bay tree has done very well inside. I think it knows something we don’t!

That’s a lot of snow!

It works!

I avoiding repairing the mixer for a couple days after the part arrived because I was afraid it would be really hard to reassemble. Not so! It went back together very easily and it seems quieter so I wonder if that part wasn’t faulty from the beginning. Here’s the test drive. (video)

Adventures in small appliance repair

IMG_0044 IMG_0045

The big mixer has always been very noisy but yesterday it was very unhappy indeed and made a loud noise and then ceased to turn right in the midst of bread making. I had seen a post about cleaning and re-greasing your mixer but this one is new and also a different model. A quick Goggle search turned up this excellent video on repairing a KitchenAid 600 Pro that isn’t spinning, exactly my problem. Jason had to help me get some of the parts off because my hands just weren’t strong enough but we succeeded in the end and diagnosed the problem as teeth broken off the worm follower gear. I’ve ordered the part and now we wait. I spent $5 on the part and we needed special pliers that were $14 as well as some grease to re-pack the gear box. I suspect it’ll be much faster and cheaper than sending it back to the factory which is the only other option.

A blanket for Riley

IMG_0012 IMG_0018 IMG_0017 IMG_0020

Some months ago Juniper Moon Farm had a blanket offering and I was lucky enough to snag one. It’s been awhile in the making but it was well worth the wait. Riley was all over it the moment I took it out of the box. At first, she really wanted to eat it but now she is content to lie on it all hours of the day. It’s the perfect thing for our stripey guest room and I’m delighted with how well it’s made. Further blanket offerings are currently up in the air so I’m even more glad I managed to get one for our home.
